SpecificationThe prices shown indicate the quality of finish we apply to these buildings. For the full price option we use an engineered oak flooring, skirting board, standard ellectrical connection and painted and finished walls. For those who would like to put something of themselves into the finishing we are able to offer all of these buildiings as a 'bare shell'. We are also happy to offer a range of roofing and cladding options to suit your budget. Materials and constructionThe buildings are made using SIPs (structural insulated panels) which offer a very high level of insulation, they are clad externally in locally sourced douglas fir or cedar and internally with a painted plaster board finish. FloorThe structure of the floor again uses SIPs, this enables us to minimise the foundations required. Where the majority of buildings use huge quantities of concrete to make a flat pad for the building to sit on we use a number of small square piers which support beams then SIPs. The floor is covered internally with engineered oak boards. Doors and WindowsThe doors are of engineered construction in white oak. They have a high security multi point locking system and toughened Low-E Argon filled glass. The windows are also double glazed and are lockable. RoofSIPs complete the envelope of the building with the roof, we then use a breather membrane, battens and the roof covering as required. For the Cranborne and the Wilton we use a felt covering and for the Melbury a manufactured slate. Planning PermissionRecent changes to planning guidelines have allowed some ‘permitted development’ to take place. In a good many cases these buildings can be erected without planning permission. A good reference point would be the Planning Portal which gives information on all planning issues. I am happy to offer advice and plans should an application be required. BespokeAs with all my other work I am happy to offer a bespoke design and build service for the garden buildings. Please contact me to discuss your ideas in full. |
